Bengalensis is a research based organisation, principally focused on ethnic clothes, ornaments and home decor. Apart from a diverse collection of Hand Woven Sharees, Bed Spreads, Salwar Suits and Shirts, Kurtas, Punjabis, Smart Pajamas, Kurtis, Jackets and Masks which are brought from the artisans of remotest nooks of India Bengalensis also wardrobes Tribal Sharees, Dress Materials and Ornaments. Bengalensis is a private platform for products that are made from traditional techniques, skills and hand-based processes. Bengalensis carries tribal – made slow fashion by Bengali designers with a wide range of price-points, sizes & aesthetics. There is truly something for everyone. Bengalensis was founded in April, 2019 getting inspired from some government projects which gave its one of the owners, the opportunity to interview scores of artisans of India and get accustomed with their way of life, their art and craft. This less-known establishment acts as a torch bearer to twelve poverty stricken female artisans who work for it regularly. This apart, Bengalensis gives livelihood to three tailors who had been forced to take up job of rickshaw pooler leaving behind their own skill during the lockdown.
